All I want for Christmas: II

I had sad news to report...we (Nate, Logan, Marshall and I) had planned on driving up to WA to be with my family and meet baby Harvey for the first time. Alas, the weather won't permit it so we are stuck in UT. Nate jumped for joy (naked) because he wouldn't have to drive in the snow, Marshall was so sad that he slipped and fell on the ice ( he just fell, nothing to do with WA), Logan threw up she was so upset (actually she has the flu) and I was unemotional because I sensed it coming.
It's ok, because half the family is here so we can still have a good ol' time. We just won't find out if Logan can beat Captain in wrestling (he just got back from basic training).
I'll keep everyone updated. But for now, I'd like to share another Christmas Story.

What did you get for Christmas?
It was the first day of school after we had had our Christmas break. I was in 6th grade (picture bowl haircut, coke-bottle glasses...) standing by the drinking fountain when a girl in my class named Denise walked up to me and asked me what I had received for Christmas.
I wasn't really friends with Denise but I knew she lived in a trailer and I knew her family situation wasn't the best. I didn't want to hurt her feelings by telling her that I had received a cool shirt (I think it was loony tunes) and a model horse, so I told her I had got a few things. Then politely I asked her what she had received for Christmas. Her answer really surprised me. She said that she had been given a new CD player, VCR, TV, CD's, a camera and new shoes. I didn't know what to say and to this day I still don't know what to make of that Christmas conversation. Was she making it up? Maybe the trailer was just a cover up for an underground mansion... I don't know. There's no real way to end this story. I remember being perfectly content with my model horse and spending Christmas with my family. I hope she was just as happy with her Christmas.

Sorry this story was lame, it's just a memory that has always stood out in my mind.

That is sort of strange isn't it. Maybe she just had her story made up a head of time incase someone asked her. Sad. Sorry yall can't get home for Christmas. But better yall be safe fan frozen!

Did headlines read "Electronics store robbed and ransacked by unknown assailants" the following day in the local papers? I think I just solved the mystery. Now all I need is a magnifying glass, a pipe to smoke, and a smaller, less perceptive sidekick (preferably named Watson). Then I will snap my fingers, and in a crisp British accent say "By Joe, I think I've got it!" When Watson asks how I pieced it all together, I'll say "elementary, my dear Watson." Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I don't think its a lame story at all. Something about that little girl has stood out to you all these years. It shows real character for you to have been thinking of her situation and not wanting to hurt her feelings, at such an early age.
I'm sorry you couldn't make it 'home' for Christmas, that's a real bummer. I hope you have a wonderful day, regardless.

Merry Christmas, and thanks for being a friend! :-)
